Most babies are very accomodating travelers, especially if you keep a few things in mind.

When travelling by car
  1. Always use an approved child restraint.
  2. When driving long distance, stop periodically to freshen the air in the car and so your baby can have a stretch and get some exercise.
  3. If possible, have someone sit in the back seat with your baby for company.
On a plane

  1. Ask about special service for babies when you book your tickets. Some airlines will provide bassinettes and other equipment.
  2. During take off and landing, let your baby suck on a breast or bottle to help reduce ear pressure.
  3. Always take a change of clothes for yourself as well as the baby.
Out and about

With such a wide choice of strollers, slings, pouches, prams and packs, taking your baby out and about are easier today then ever. Here are a few suggestions from other parents of outings that babies love most:

Walking around your neighbourhood - you might be surprised by the things that interest your baby.

No matter how you're traveling, pack a separate bag for your baby things and keep it with your at all times.

This bag should contain:

•  A change of clothing

•  Nappies

•  Pre-moistened washcloths or towelettes

•  A box of tissues or a roll of toilet paper

•  Nappies or cloths to use as bibs

•  Cushions and covers for surfaces when you need to change a nappy

•  Baby-care toiletries

•  Little packs of finger food such as crackers or fruit snacks

A few favourite toys will also help to keep your baby entertained.

Where possible, try to stick to your baby's usual feeding and sleeping routines.
